WORK EXPERIENCE

Student art on display at the Virginia Tech "Simply Elemental" exhibit, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

I began my teaching career at the elementary level in 2011 and have continued to explore all grade and skill levels, from Kindergarten to Advanced Art III, in my local and state communities. In each school, I initiated after school extracurricular activities for students including:

  • an extracurricular Art Club for 5th grade students

  • Art Club and weekly Mural Meeting where students designed, organized, and painted murals in the school.

  • co-sponsored the National Art Honors Society and the Photography Club, which encouraged students to practice art inspired service projects in the community.

In 2021, I began teaching courses with Virtual Virginia for grades K-12. I teach both synchronous and asynchronous students and work closely with stakeholders to ensure student success. I use the virtual environment to facilitate discussions, demonstrate 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art skills, and remediate students that are struggling or need additional challenge.

I have been writing and creating content for multiple online classes with Virtual Virginia. With this, I blend instructional content with interactive materials and provide space for students to make personal responses using their media of choice. As of Fall 2023, I have written the following courses:

  • Visual Arts and Design I

  • Art History and Appreciation

  • AP Art History (in progress)

In the Fall Semester of 2023, I began teaching upper level courses in Art History at Radford University, including:

  • Italian Renaissance

  • American Art History

  • Twentieth Century Art

  • History of Photographic Processes
