"I am always doing what I cannot do yet in order to learn how to do it." ~ Vincent van Gogh

Hello! My name is Laura and I am currently a K-12 art educator and adjunct professor at Radford University in Southwest, Va. I am originally from Chesterfield, Va but settled my roots in the New River Valley many years ago after attending Radford University. Since graduating in 2010, I have completed my Masters in Art Education and have been teaching visual arts and art history to all grade levels in the virtual school setting.

I believe in teaching process over product and emphasize the practice of artistic behaviors blended with technical skill. I love to empower students by exposing them to works of art in history and various cultures while also embracing their individual interests and strengths. My goal is to continue supporting the local arts community by involving students in regional art exhibits and sharing their work with friends and family.

Today, I have 3 little boys that keep me busy between basketball and music lessons. Our family loves to travel and recently explored San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Boston. With far too many interests to keep up with, I recently completed a Children's Book Illustration course and became certified as a lactation counselor for new moms. I continue to make art in my spare time and have been involved in both local art events and the Occupational Therapy Program at Radford University.
